city, state, your town

Dear Gridskipper Editor,

Rock Chick couldn't help but notice the recent uptick in traffic eminating here from your site.  Seeing as your original post is dated November 8, 2006, one wonders why the recent surge.  Perhaps the freakishly warm winter has delayed a young man's fancy turning to knitting, but when it did, Purl Jam was here to help.

Alas, RC can only imagine the bitter disappointment of those in possession of an XY chromosome as the link ferried them to a land where not only Ed Vedder, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal and Johnny Depp are found not knitting anywhere near Portland, but a foul-mouthed chick knitter bleats on about her knitting ADHD.  Fairness dictates that the link be corrected.  It's like clicking on a link for Rowan and ending up with Red Heart.  You don't get that, do you?  The boys with sticks do.

Behold the power of guilt.  Guilt in the name of charity, but guilt nonetheless.  Satisfied, Mrs. Robinson?

under your tongue

How can something that was clear as an Oklahoma plain on Sunday, be piled as high as Vesuvius by Tuesday?

Behold Rock Chick's desk.  Her purpose in showing you this?  That there's proof that an anal retentive mother in the housekeeping department will spawn a child with nary a regard for organization?  That the chart for the Magickal Earth shawl is still on her slant board from last summer.  (Rock Chick's therapist would love that tidbit of failure displayed as a daily reminder.)  No, go back and look.  You in particular.  See that red mass in the lower left?  A flurry of emails from a certain PITA, accusations of ripping the scarf off an o-r-p-h-a-n-'-s neck and general guilt-inducing harrumphs, Rock Chick abandoned her current WIP and turned her sticks toward that.  Astounding, really, as RC does not respond well to authority figures or guilt.  Just some of the personality "highlights" that fund said therapist's August retreats to Martha's Vineyard.

got a spot at lukin's

How in bloody hell is the first month of 2007 almost half over already?  (First person to crack wise on Rock Chick's age gets a DPN to the pusassy.)  Yeah, sorry about the '06 12 MOC edition, kids.  RC has been majorly distracted.  It wasn't that she wasn't knitting - oh, she was.  She even knit something for someone who is not constructed of her own DNA.  Shocking, ma petite, really.  Was it for the Red Scarf Project?  Um, no...that red yarn became a Panta for herself.  (BTW, is Panta not the shit when it comes to fab, useful and insanely quick knits?)  Someone was on the receiving end of a pair of cashmere Fetchings.  Oooh, special, boys and girls.  The recipient fawned effusively, so all is good in the microchip-sized corner of RC's brain that contemplates knitting for others.

Other knitting has taken place...

Cherry Garcia neck warmer in some Cherry Tree Hill bulky wool, the proper name and colorway of which I have forgotten.  Only been able to wear it two days this winter as global warming in these parts have rendered such items obsolete this year.

Next up, the Gee-tar Messenger bag, pattern (RC typed "recipe" first...distracted, still) to be found in Greetings from Knit Cafe

That book has some fab ideas - where was RC when it first came out last year?

It goes on and on beyond the border of the pic, but because Rock Chick cares (shut up, she does, too), she's chosen to spare your retinas the shameful unvacuumed view of her living room rug.  It came from the stash - a cashmere blend that had long since lost its ball bands, so brand and actual content are a crapshoot.  Much like Rock Chick's posting habits.
